Note: Only the first of multiple products under one product type counts toward the product count.  For example, if you have three different chequing accounts, we will only count them as one towards eligible products.  However, all three accounts will be included in the calculation for Volume/Balance Bonus.

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding our new MEMBER REWARDS Program.  If your question isn't answered here, please send us an email, give us a call, or visit us in branch.
How much you receive depends on your relationship with us.  Payments are based on relationships as of December 31 of the previous year.  The more business you do with us, the more you get rewarded.  If you cannot see your MEMBER REWARDS account in Online Banking, please call us.

Once the annual payments are completed, the entire payment is yours to do with as you like!  What you don’t have access to, and needs to stay in your Member Rewards Account, is your $5 Member Share.  When you opened your first account, you deposited the $5 into it to become a member of Unity Credit Union. The $5 Member Share will be restricted as you need to be a funded member to receive future MEMBER REWARDS payments

The short answer: Yes.  All youth Growth accounts will receive $50 as a thank you for choosing Unity Credit Union to be your piggy bank!

The long answer:  All youth Growth accounts will receive a minimum of $50 in their Member Rewards account.  However, if the youth member has at least 4 products with us, they will qualify for the regular MEMBER REWARDS payout, as that payment will always be larger.
We’d love to earn more of your business and help you reach your financial goals with our competitive products and services.  You can earn additional MEMBER REWARDS by increasing your relationship with us.
A joint account will be used towards the product total calculation (Relationship component).  The payout of the Volume Reward will be split evenly between the members who own the account(s).  For example:  If two members own an account jointly with a balance of $250,000 (and given they each have 4 products to qualify for Member Rewards), the payout of $250 will be split in half.  Each member will receive $125.

The exception is our Collabria credit cards, as currently only the primary holder will receive credit for the card.

No.  For the Relationship reward, only one account per product type is counted towards the total relationship product count.  For example, if you have two chequing accounts, even if they are different types of chequing accounts, you will only receive credit for one because they are both the same product type.  However, all accounts and balances will be included in the calculation for the Volume Bonus.
Yes, all account balances will be included in the calculation for the Volume Bonus.
Yes.  As our relationships with our members have grown, our rewards program needed to evolve as well.  We have expanded our MEMBER REWARDS program to reward a wider variety of accounts, services and solutions.  While the old patronage program rewarded only interest paid on loans and interest earned on deposits, the new MEMBER REWARDS Program rewards the entire member relationship.

We will provide further details in 2024 on when the old Equity accounts will be paid out.

Yes.  Future payments will change as your relationship with Unity Credit Union changes and evolves.  
Unfortunately, due to legislative restrictions and income tax implications, we are unable to reward certain accounts at this time, including Aviso Wealth* and registered accounts.  However, we are always looking for ways to evolve and improve our MEMBER REWARDS Program, so should circumstances change, we would be happy to revisit this.

Yes.  The MEMBER REWARDS payment you receive is fully taxable.  You will receive a T-5 for the full amount of the reward.  T-5s will be available in February of the following year.
The minimum requirements to be eligible for a payment are, as at December 31 of the previous year:
  1. You needed to be a member with a fully paid member share,
  2. You needed to hold a minimum of 4 eligible Unity Credit Union products and services (multiple products of the same product type do not count), and
  3. The accounts must be operated as agreed to, active, and in good standing.
If you don't meet those requirements, we'd love to earn more of your business and help you reach your financial goals.  You can become eligible for MEMBER REWARDS by increasing your relationship with us.
