Who and what products & services qualify for MEMBER REWARDS:

#1.  MEMBERSHIP

First and foremost, you must be a member of Unity Credit Union to qualify for MEMBER REWARDS.  Not a member yet? 

#2.  RELATIONSHIP

Your business or organization needs to have a minimum of 3 products with us to qualify for MEMBER REWARDS, as at December 31 of the previous year (accounts must be in good standing)


RELATIONSHIP REWARD

With the minimum of 3 products, your business will receive $100. 
Every additional product earns an additional $25.​

#3.  BONUS REWARDS 

If your business or organization meet the requirements of #1 and #2, then you can qualify for:

VOLUME BONUS

The volume bonus is based on the balances of all of your business accounts.  To qualify, total balances of accounts (deposits + loans) must meet the minimum amount of $250,000 as of December 31 of the previous year.

LOYALTY BONUS

The loyalty bonus is based on the number of years your business has been a member of Unity Credit Union.  To qualify, your business must have been a member for a minimum of 10 years at December 31 of the previous year.

MEMBER REWARDS: Frequently Asked Questions for Businesses & Organizations

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding our new MEMBER REWARDS Program.  If your question isn't answered here, please send us an email, give us a call, or visit us in branch.
How much your business/organization receives depends on your relationship with us.  Payments are based on relationships as of December 31 of the previous year.  The more business you do with us, the more you get rewarded.  At this time, businesses and organizations are unable to access their Member Rewards account within Online Banking.  To transfer these funds to your business chequing account, please call us or visit us in branch.

Once the annual payments are completed, the entire payment is yours to do with as you like!  What you don’t have access to, and needs to stay in your Member Rewards Account is your $5 Member Share.  When you opened your first account, you deposited the $5 into it to become a member of Unity Credit Union. The $5 Member Share will be restricted as you need to be a funded member to receive future MEMBER REWARDS payments

No.  For the Relationship reward, only one account per product type is counted towards the total relationship product count.  For example, if you have two chequing accounts, even if they are different types of chequing accounts, you will only receive credit for one because they are both the same product type.  However, all accounts and balances will be included in the calculation for the Volume Bonus.
Yes, all account balances will be included in the calculation for the Volume Bonus.
Unfortunately, due to legislative restrictions and income tax implications, we are unable to reward certain accounts at this time, including Aviso* and registered accounts.  However, we are always looking for ways to evolve and improve our MEMBER REWARDS Program, so should circumstances change, we would be happy to revisit this.

Yes.  As our relationships with our members have grown, our rewards program needed to evolve as well.  We have expanded our MEMBER REWARDS program to reward a wider variety of accounts, services and solutions.  While the old patronage program rewarded only interest paid on loans and interest earned on deposits, the new MEMBER REWARDS Program rewards the entire member relationship.

We will provide further details in 2024 on when the old Equity accounts will be paid out.

Yes.  Future payments will change as your relationship with Unity Credit Union changes and evolves.  
Yes.  The MEMBER REWARDS payment you receive is fully taxable.  You will receive a T-5 for the full amount of the reward.  T-5s will be available in February of the following year.
The minimum requirements to be eligible for a payment are, as at December 31 of the previous year:
  1. You needed to be a member with a fully paid member share,
  2. Your business or organization needed to hold a minimum of 3 eligible Unity Credit Union products and services (multiple products of the same product type do not count), and
  3. The accounts must be operated as agreed to and in good standing.
If you don't meet those requirements, we'd love to earn more of your business and help you reach your financial goals.  You can become eligible for MEMBER REWARDS by increasing your relationship with us.
